• 영화 <조커>에서의 호아킨 피닉스는 말 그대로 압도적이죠. 숨소리 하나까지 사람을 긴장하게 만드는데, 영화를 보면서 정말 압도적이라는 느낌을 받았었습니다.
• 아주 탁월한 캐스팅이라고 생각하는데, 몇몇 기사들에서는 ‘원래는 디카프리오가 조커 역할을 맡기로 했지만, 스케줄 때문에 안되어서, 호아킨 피닉스가 대타로 들어왔다’는 이야기들이 많더군요. 사실이 아닙니다. 사람들이 이런 종류의 ‘우연히 된 캐스팅이 대박을 쳤다’는 가십을 좋아하는 것 같아요.

However, it took Phoenix some time to commit to the role, as it intimidated him and he said “oftentimes, in these movies, we have these simplified, reductive archetypes, and that allows for the audience to be distant from the character, just like we would do in real life, where it’s easy to label somebody as evil, and therefore say, ‘Well, I’m not that.’”

• is (3 hour) distant from: ‘~부터 떨어진’의 의미를 가집니다. 여기에 거리/시간 등을 표시함으로써 ‘얼마나 먼, 얼마나 걸리는’등의 의미를 가지게 할 수도 있죠.
  • ex) The city where I was born in is 4 hour distant from the city where I live now.
