VOS viewer가 무엇인가?

• 최근에 bibliometric 분야의 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 그래서 관련 논문들을 상당히 많이 읽고 있는데요, 그 중에 bibliometric 분야의 논문들 중에 유독 VOS viewer를 활용해서 분석을 수행했다는 논문이 많이 보였습니다.
• 예전에 대충 봤을 때는 cytoscape 같은거겠지 뭐, 하고 넘어갔는데 많이 보여서 이참에 한번 정리해보려고합니다.

VOS viewer 란

VOSviewer is a software tool for constructing and visualizing bibliometric networks. These networks may for instance include journals, researchers, or individual publications, and they can be constructed based on citation, bibliographic coupling, co-citation, or co-authorship relations. VOSviewer also offers text mining functionality that can be used to construct and visualize co-occurrence networks of important terms extracted from a body of scientific literature.

• 정리하면, VOSviewer는 bibliometric network를 구축하고, 시각화해주는 소프트웨어 툴이라고 합니다.
• 여기서 구축해주는 네트워크에는 journal, research, individual publication등이 포함되며, citation network나, bibliographic coupling, co-citation, co-authorship 등의 관계를 기반으로 구축된다고 합니다.
• 또, text mining등의 방법을 사용하여 scientific literature로부터 추출한 term(아마도 초록, 제목 등에서 추출하지 않았을까 싶은데요)의 co-occurrence network를 구축하고 시각화해 준다고 합니다.

• WoS, Scopus, Dimension, Crossref 의 데이터를 넣으면, co-athorship network, citation-based network, co-occurrence network를 구축해 줌.
• 네트워크 레이아웃 기능이 지원되고, 레이아웃을 다양한 parameter를 사용해서 조절할 수 있다고 합니다. 이건, 사이람에서 만든 넷마이너와 비슷한 기능인 것 같네요.
• NLP 기술을 이용해서, co-occurrence network를 구축합니다. 어떻게 구축하는지에 대해서 자세하 설명은 안되어 있네요. 예를 들어서, semantic 기술까지도 이용하는지, 흠.

• 원래 좀 더 하려고 했는데, 귀찮아서 멈춰습니다. 하하하.
• 정확하게는 귀찮다기보다, 뭔가 더 있는것 같지가 않았습니다. 그냥, 제가 아는 분석도구와 큰 차이가 나지 않는 것 같기는 하구요.
• 다만, overlay로 그림 예쁘게 그려주는 건 좀 괜찮은 것 같기는 하네요. 흠.
